Texas is regarded as the world capital of BBQs. You’ll find thousands of BBQ joints throughout the state. Also, thousands of visitors flock to Texas each year to find out how delicious Texans’ perfectly-smoked meat tastes.

The state of Texas is also well known as being a center for musical innovation. Texans have helped to pioneer various musical genres, including rock ‘n roll, conjunto music, country, swing, jazz, the blues, and many others.

So, if you enjoy both BBQs and live music, there’s no better place to tour around than Texas.

Here are just a few of the places and events that you’ll want to consider for the itinerary of your ultimate BBQ and music tour of Texas.

Prepare for Your Trip

If you’re intending to do a road trip to tour around Texas, you can either rent a car or take your own car to Texas. Either way, it could be more than worth looking at Texas’ cheapest car insurers to make sure you have adequate protection in place at an affordable cost.

You also need to ensure you pack well for a road trip. Make sure you have a spare tire, a first aid kit, plenty of water and snacks, and a smartphone. Also, make sure you pack the right clothing for your trip.

The Troubadour Festival

The Troubadour Festival takes place three times a year, in Georgetown, Celina, and Tyler, so you have a good chance of catching the BBQ and music festival regardless of which season you travel to Texas.

In 2022, the Randy Rogers Band played Celina. Other acts to have appeared at the festival include Chris Colston, Wade Bowen, and Graycie York.

As for the food, the Troubadour Festival partners with many of the greatest BBQ chefs in Texas, with around seventy Texan BBQ joints represented, so you’ll have a wide selection of meaty delights to choose from.

The Lone Star BBQ and Music Festival

In June 2022, the first-ever Lone Star BBQ and Music Festival took place and it looks set to become a regular event. So, if you’re staying in  Dallas next summer, make sure the festival is on your itinerary.

This year, iconic disco band Le Freak headlined, and around thirty BBQ joints served up the ribs, brisket, and burgers.

The Wild About Texas BBQ Tour

If you’re more interested in BBQs than music, you can take the Wild About Texas BBQ Tour any time of the year. You can try the best BBQ food from four of the best BBQ joints in Texas, learn secret BBQ techniques from an authentic pit master, gain VIP access to a BBQ smokehouse, and more.

Its current exhibition is the Texas Music Pioneers Exhibit, which features more than sixty Texan musicians and fourteen music genres, including blues, country, classical, western swing, gospel, jazz, Orquesta, ragtime, and conjunto.

The displays include information about the artists, memorabilia, and antique recording cylinders and phonographs.
