Deul Eco-Park – a Weekend Getaway from Kolkata

Reunions are always special. Especially when we reunite with our childhood buddies at some beautiful destination. Deul Eco Park is situated beside the beautiful location of Ajay River. Deul is away from the city with the thick Garh forest of Durgapur at the backdrop and the Ajay River flowing beside. And the most important of all, beautiful people for company. After our last reunion at Singee, this time we zeroed on Deul. Deul is situated quite near to Durgapur city. We had to reach Deul after crossing Jaydev Kenduli, the birthplace of the famous Bengali poet Jaydev. Kenduli and...

Kudremukh Trek – Western Ghats

Kudremukh is so beautiful! It was the first thought that came to my mind when I got a first glimpse of the peak. In the Kannada dialect “Kudre” means horse and “mukha” means face. BAGORA – A LESSER KNOWN HIMALAYAN HAMLET

Bagora – the picturesque hamlet was the first destination of our unplanned trip to North Bengal. Yes, it is that time of the year where we get some continuous days of holidays and unlike most homebound Bengalis, we do not travel back home, but just pack our backpacks for quenching our ever growing wanderlust. This has become inevitable during every Durga Puja season much to the chagrin of our parents. But with “Dugga-Dugga” (a Bengali prayer to Goddess Durga for the safe journey before travel) on our lips, we are on our way to see a new place! This...

Adina Mosque Malda

The Adina Mosque is situated about 16 kms from the town of Malda. It was built by Sultan Sikandar Shah and is the largest Islamic monument of Bengal. It is one of the finest architectural structure built in Bengal during the Muslim period. As we first entered the mosque, we were awed  the vast dual coloured wall.  Below, the wall was made of grey stone upto about 10 feet. The upper portion of the wall was made of red bricks. The Adina Mosque has many distinct remnants of Hindu deities on the gateways and the walls of the mosque. Also the...
